Based upon sketch made by Jack C. Hornsby, USMC, captured in Peking. Hornsby noted that the gate faced north and the area was known as "Tsumori". Source: RG 389, Box 2129 Sketch re-created by R. Mansell China Marine historian John N. Powers states: according to Marine John W. Whipple, "The camp consisted of five barracks, each holding about 160 men. There was a much smaller building at the far end of the camp that was used for a hospital. In addition there was a cook shed, a small Japanese office and a small building where the guards were quartered. The whole camp was surrounded by a tall wooden fence topped with barbed wire. Whipple worked in the Fuji Nigata Ship Yard."
