He was very personable and loved life and always looked for the good in people. He was very quiet about his war experience until after he retired from his second career. Dad joined the national former POW group and was a guest at the White House during President Reagan's term in office when all the former POW's were honored. Dad spent a total of 22 years in the Navy. He was born in Buffalo, New York on January 29, 1917. He was in the Medical Service Corps and retired in 1955. Dad went to work for CIBA Pharmaceutical Co.(now Novartis) as a sales representative and retired 20 years later as their Government Sales Manager. He had an office on Pennsylvania Ave. in D.C. and often attended hearings on Capitol Hill. Dad's passion in life was golf and he played until his early 80's. He even played Augusta. My brother and Dad spent 2 days and played 2 rounds of golf at Augusta. Dad was a member of the National Hole in One Assoc. and before he died he had 13 hole in ones.
